Short Notice Soccer Cake

Start to finish time: just under six hours with an hour to spare before pick-up time! Now you know why my pentagons and hexagons are just a bit off. Hopefully the birthday boy won't mind (maybe he won't even notice!).

¡Feliz CumpleaƱos Wesley!

Cake Wreck

Our idea was good, but not using cake plates was not.

On a better note...it tasted yummy and was much enjoyed by the three birthday kids (myself being one of them)!

Roses

This was a practice cake (just to see if I could do it!) and it's now on its way to Otavalo. I hope the Santillan family enjoys it!
White cake (from a box...gasp!) with buttercream frosting.

Happy Birthday to my gardening friend!

Okay, so there is a little story behind a garden cake for a January birthday! My neighbor and friend has a wonderful spot for a huge garden and the last few years I've been able to help him plant it. It's a big job, and I'm a terrible help when it comes to weeding it, but we do get an awful lot of rewards once the veggies start producing. Since we are the main ones in our families who enjoy the profit of gardening, I figured he might just like a garden cake and our families would finally eat some cabbage and carrots!

This cake is chocolate fudge cake with chocolate pudding "squirts" here and there in it, frosted with chocolate frosting and sprinkled with Oreo crumbs. The veggies are all made out of marshmallow fondant and buttercream icing. The railroad ties are Keebler fudge covered wafer cookies. It was a wonderfully delicious chocolaholic's dream cake!

And just so you know what I was trying to duplicate (but could not find a moose figurine anywhere this week!)...
and by the way...I apologize greatly for the terrible photos. Alaska is very dark in the winter and lighting was awful today. Plus my husband took them and I didn't double check them before cutting the cake. Oops!
